Comparative Federalism explores the structure, functioning, and evolution of federal systems of government across different countries. The course compares how power is shared and divided between central and regional governments, examining various models of federalism, such as those in the United States, Germany, Ethiopia, Nigeria, India, and Canada. Topics include the constitutional design of federal systems, the political dynamics between different levels of government, and the impact of federalism on governance, democracy, and national unity. Through case studies, students will analyze the advantages, challenges, and outcomes of federal governance in diverse political contexts.
